Does Popcorn Price in 20 Rupees in the Theater?

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, recently spent two days in Mumbai where he met a number of famous people, including Jackie Shroff, Suniel Shetty, Boney Kapoor, Kailash Kher, and Sonu Nigam.

He met with them all and discussed the possibility of offering incentives for filmmakers to come and shoot in UP. Suniel Shetty even requested assistance from the CM in halting the boycott of Bollywood. In a video that is currently going viral, Jackie Shroff is seen giving CM Yogi Adityanath a warm welcome in his trademark manner before pleading with him to lower the cost of popcorn at movie theatres.

Jackie Shroff can be seen in the video getting up from his chair to greet CM Yogi Adityanath. “Welcome to Mumbai,” he adds, adding, “If you want home-cooked meals at any moment, just let me know, and I’ll send it.”

Jackie continued, “Theatre Ke popcorn ka keemat kam karo Sir,” which was a hilarious request. It costs 500 rupees to buy popcorn. Lekin andar aayega kaun, picture banayenge, studio banayenge? (Dear Sir, could you please lower the popcorn price. Popcorn costs Rs 500 in the theatre. If no one comes to see the movie that we’re making, what’s the point?

Yogi Adityanath stated that because UP is a “film-friendly” state, he wants to make sure the industry can shoot there without incident because movies play a significant role in bringing people together. He said, “We have elected two of your film fraternity members as MPs, so we are aware of the problems you face and the solutions that must be found. The nation’s unity and sovereignty are preserved and the society is brought together in significant ways thanks to cinema.”
