Year is going to end but not Russia-Ukraine War.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, has visited troops stationed in the eastern Donetsk area, which Russia claims as its own following a fabricated referendum.

After Ukraine’s forces recaptured Kherson in the south last month, the region—particularly the area around the town of Bakhmut—is now the main scene of intense combat.

Since 2014, sections of Donetsk have been under the control of Russia and its allies.

New Russian attacks were reported in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region on Tuesday night.

According to regional manager Valentyn Reznichenko, one person was hurt when an industrial plant in the city of Kryvyi Rih was struck.

This follows the significant Russian missile strikes on Monday that once more hit vital civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.

The nation is currently experiencing snowfall, sub-zero temperatures in several areas, and millions of people lack access to running water and electricity, increasing concerns that people may pass away from hypothermia.

On Tuesday, Mr. Zelensky described the conflict in the area of Bakhmut as the “most difficult area that protects not only the east, but our entire state.”

However, he stated that he thought Ukraine would reclaim all of the territory that Russia had occupied, including Crimea, Ukraine’s southern peninsula that Russia annexed eight years ago.

Since several weeks ago, there have been fierce battles close to Bakhmut as Russia tries to expand its holdings following a string of military losses in other regions of Ukraine.

According to British intelligence, the Wagner Group, a private military contractor, is in charge of Russian efforts there.

In a video shot in the city of Sloviansk, about 45 kilometres (28 miles) north-west of Bakhmut, President Zelensky praised soldiers for their bravery and fortitude. Sloviansk was one of the first towns pro-Russian fighters took control of in 2014, however it was later taken back by Ukraine.
